"Location is Terrific but.."
The Location is terrific, I made reservations two months in advance and called to make sure I get street view. When I checked it I was told only two out of the four rooms will have street view because all others were reserved, They assure me to let me know when one became available (they didn't) The first night we could not sleep because the strong mildew smell, we turned the air on and that took care of the problem. Only one of the elevators was working it was incredible slow. Also the front desk never asked me to validate my parking, On my last day it was the parking attendant (two blocks away) who asked me if I validated my parking card with the Hotel.. The breakfast was okay, Overall it was an Okay experience will I do it again? No.
"City with many nice things to do and visit"
Nice and vibrant city, with good services, stores and lots of places to visit. There are lots of museums and antique churches, nice street life and lots of nice and interesting stores. The streets are nice to walk around in day and at night many places on the historical center looks gorgeous.
I'll start this off by saying I've stayed at various "One" locations throughout Mexico, and this stay has single-handedly ensured I'll never stay at one again. What initially caught my attention was the amazing view that the rooms had, which I'll admit, they definitely do. You get an incredible view of the cathedral and the entire plaza. However, that was unfortunately the only good thing I have to say about my experience. While it's not a huge deal, you should know that the parking lot is a couple of blocks away from the hotel, so prepare to walk. If you get stuck in the rain like I did both times, this may be an issue for you. I'm from a rainy environment so it wasn't that bothersome, but if you have a lot of luggage it might be. Check-in was a bit hectic but that's only because a huge group of people were checking in at the same time, presumably from a company or university trip. The elevator was so slow that the workers told us it was just better to take the stairs during our stay, and we were on the second floor. This wasn't a big deal as I only had one luggage, but the stairs...were disgusting. Just to put it in perspective, the stairs in the underground parking lot looked cleaner. So, we get to the second level, and we're hit with the overwhelming smell of mildew. The carpet on this level (I can't speak to the others) was covered with dark stains in the hallways, which was less than inviting. The room was small but relatively clean as I've come to expect from One. No issues there. However, there was painting going on and construction which made it very difficult to sleep in the morning with all the banging around. At 11:30am the next day, I left my room to check out, and there was one of those painter's tarps (for lack of the appropriate word) covering the floor right outside my room and the room next to mine, so that you couldn't step over it. There were men working on the walls on ladders that said it was safe to step on it, and unfortunately that wasn't the case. I took three steps on the fabric, and each time got more and more bright white paint on my new shoes...yeah. That stuff didn't come out, so I was walking around the plaza waiting for my ride with white paint stains all over. Oh, and the front desk guy didn't even ask if he could do anything to remedy the issue. I realize it's not his fault, specifically, but come on... one of your guest's shoes get ruined because of the hotel and nothing?
This place is perfectly located in the heart of Guadalajara. Front desk Staff is attentive don't recall the names but the lady whom checked me in and out was friendly. Also a gentelmant during the night shifts. Breakfast is great to start if you are planning to walk all day. View from the balcony is amazing take a chance to film the sunrise worth it.
Room was very well maintained although the bed was a bit hard. Breakfast was fresh and well stocked. Location was fantastic as we were walking distance to a tour bus, grocery store, movie theater and shopping area. Weather was fantastic - warm during the day and cool in the evening.
